Should you replace your boiler with a more efficient one?
December 30, 2014
According to the Energy Saving Trust, your boiler accounts for about 55% of what you spend in a year on energy bills, so having an efficient boiler makes a big difference.
Replacing an old gas boiler with an A-rated efficiency boiler such as Vaillant, which is the brand we always use, will significantly cut your home’s carbon dioxide emissions and could save you over £300 a year.
Below is a chart from the energy saving trust, which gives an idea of how much you could save, depending on your house and old boiler rating:
Why are new boilers more efficient?
The main advantage of modern boilers is that they are all condensing boilers. While older, well-maintained boilers should burn their energy efficiently, they will inevitably lose some heat in the hot gases that escape up the flue. A condensing boiler has a bigger heat exchanger, which means it recovers more heat, sends cooler gases up the flue and is therefore more efficient.
We believe Vaillant are the very best in developing and manufacturing efficient heating systems, so we only ever work with this brand. It's very important to find a brand that you can trust and we've found Vaillant never lets our customers down. Click here for more information on why we only work with Vaillant.
